Pool Noodle Safety Hacks

5 ways pool noodles can make parenting easier

Pool noodles are an essential tool to combat some issues you may be having with your child.

Is your bub more into head banging than sleeping?

Try slicing the length of a pool noodle and placing it over the rails in your cot, to stop them from banging their heads.  This also works if you have a biter, although keep an eye out to ensure they’re not progressing to eater.

Is your child moving from the cot to a big kid bed?  Worried they’ll fall out?

Place a pool noodle under the sheet on each side to make it more difficult for them to roll out.

Sick of losing toys under the couch?

If you have a gap under the couch that appears to have become a toy cave, wedge the pool noodle into the gap.  When you have a surprise visitor, use it as a giant sweeper to sweep the toys back under the couch and out of sight.

Are your pre-kid furniture choices too sharp and angled for your kids?

Cut lengths of pool noodles and wrap around the sharp edges that your kid seems to aim for with their new found freedom.

Didn’t spring for the spring-free trampoline?

Cut lengths of noodles and use them to cover the springs.  Its still gonna hurt if they find themselves straddling the noodles after attempting a triple summersault, but it won’t hurt as much.

Bonus tip

If you have older kids who like to push the limits with each other, pool noodles are softer than sticks, so leave a few strategically placed around the garden to ensure they pick the noodles up instead of a stick.
